Red Angus Producers Assure Quality Product
Delivering a quality beef product to the consumer requires more than just superior genetics – trustworthy handling practices are the link that assures consumer satisfaction.
The Red Angus Association of America (RAAA) is breaking new ground as the first breed association to partner with Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) and the Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) program to sponsor the cost of BQA certification – or recertification – for Red Angus stakeholders from Sept. 10 through Oct. 31.
BIVI will pick up the $25 to $50 certification fee for Red Angus stakeholders. As an added incentive, producers who become BQA certified can send in a copy of their certificate to the RAAA National Office, and be entered to win a grilling basket that includes a RAAA steak knife set, grill set, cutting board, apron and customized branding iron for their steaks. The lucky recipient will also receive their choice of 1 Liter of Cydectin® Pour On or 500 mL of Cydectin Injectable from BIVI.
The checkoff-funded Beef Quality Assurance program is important to the cattle industry as it gives producers a set of best practices for producing quality beef. It also gives consumers the assurance that the beef they eat is a safe, wholesome, quality product that is raised with the utmost care.
“By offering this opportunity to producers, we are giving them the chance to learn about the latest industry developments and demonstrating to consumers that Red Angus stakeholders care about the safety, wholesomeness and quality of the beef they produce,” said Twig Marston, RAAA CEO.
