South Dakota Cattle on Feed up 9 Percent from Last Year
South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals reported 250,000 cattle on feed on June 1, up 9 percent from last year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its latest report that placements in feedlots during May totaled 29,000 head, unchanged from 2015.
Marketings of fed cattle during May totaled 40,000 head, up 8 percent from last year.
Other disappearance during March totaled 4,000 head, up 2,000 from last year.
