Gardiner Angus Ranch’s 8th Annual “Meating Demand” sale saw a total of 330 Angus bulls and heifers sold to 78 buyers from 21 states in two hours, grossing $1.55 million. Registered angus bulls averaged $7,566 while the 190 commercial heifers averaged $2,515 per head.

The “Meating Demand” sale on May 1 follows Gardiner’s 44th Annual spring sale held one month prior.

Ben Eggers, Sydenstricker Genetics, Mexico, Mo., bought the top-selling bull, 2683 on a winning bid of $16,000. Longtime GAR customer, Tommy Cartrite, Sunray, Texas, selected Lots 2 and 16, W4182, a Transcendent son and 2648, another outstanding Veracious son, and paid $15,000 and $14,000, respectively.

The 55 20-month-old registered bulls averaged $6,845 per head, and the 85 head of 14-16-month-old registered bulls averaged $8,300.

Tuda and Jack Crews’ Ute Creek Cattle Co. complete cowherd dispersal immediately followed the Meating Demand sale. The historic UCCC herd represents two generations of friendship and loyalty to GAR genetics and seven generations of New Mexico land ownership. One-hundred-seventy-three spring born pairs grossed $531,650 for a $3,073 average.
