Hulett: Slow Grind Continues
The fed cattle market in the South continued it’s ever-so-slow rise again last week. Producers saw a one dollar rise in the market, putting most of the trade at $122 per cwt.
Producers in the North continued to see a more robust market for their cattle. Cash cattle traded mostly $125-$127 and dressed cattle bringing $200 for the most part. Show lists in the North continue to be light on market-ready numbers, but as the price continues to rise feeders may start adding some green cattle to the list.
Cattle feeders in all regions are beginning to find themselves more current than what they have been for quite some time. This clean-up could give cattle feeders the ability to pass on bids and not feel like they may only have one opportunity to sell cattle.
