First U.S. Cattle to Vietnam Since 2001
Ten registered American Red Brahman bulls found their new home at the Vietnamese National Breeding Center near Hanoi on Saturday, November 28. The top U.S. agriculture official from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, Mark Dries, attended the historic arrival ceremony for the first U.S. cattle to be imported by Vietnam since 2001.
Stamey Cattle Company of Statesville, NC exported the bulls, which originated from leading Brahman ranches in Texas and Louisiana. David Stamey said, “Agricultural exports bring important revenue to many sectors of the U.S. economy, obviously the breeders but also the local vets, the USDA inspection farm, the bankers in Florida and even the refueling station in Alaska.”
Clint Galiano of K Bar Farms in Amite, LA, a respected Brahman breeder and supplier to the project, accompanied the bulls on their journey from Chicago to Vietnam. Upon arrival, Galiano assisted the new owners with the adaptation of the bulls.
