New Beef and Pork Facility Planned for So. Illinois

Saline River Farms, LLC, has announced plans to build an 83,000-square-foot beef and pork processing facility in southern Illinois, part of USDA’s efforts to increase capacity and diversify processing facilities.

Saline River Farms, LLC, has announced plans to build an 83,000-square-foot beef and pork processing facility in southern Illinois. The project is part of USDA’s efforts to increase capacity and diversify processing facilities across the U.S.

The facility is planned for Williamson County, which is located about 120 miles southeast of St. Louis.

Saline River Farms said it will use the latest processing technology and innovation, and forecasts production of 40,320,000 pounds of beef and 19,152,000 pounds of pork annually. The company will invest over $87 million into local agriculture over the next year.

“We have received tremendous support from the cities of Marion, Herrin, and Creal Springs and have worked tirelessly with congressman Mike Bost, Sen. Dale Fowler, Governor J.B. Pritzker’s office, Williamson County Board Chairman Jim Marlo, and other elected officials to bring these career jobs to Southern Illinois,” stated Ted Hampson, an attorney spokesperson for Saline River Farms, LLC.

Saline River Farms, LLC will provide wholesale beef and pork processing services, consumer beef and pork processing services, direct to consumer mail order meat distribution, and will have an on-premises retail store. The Company will distribute product under several different labels.
