Huntington Meat Packing Inc. of Montebello, Calif., is recalling approximately 864,000 lbs. of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered the problem during a Food Safety Assessment (FSA) which led to a more-thorough check of records at the company. Based on that review, the recall was ordered on ground beef produced by the firm from Jan. 5-15, 2010, and were shipped to distribution centers, restaurants, and hotels within California.
During a subsequent review of the establishment’s records, FSIS also determined additional products produced and shipped in 2008 to be adulterated because they may have been contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. As a result, products produced from February 19, 2008 to May 15, 2008, are subject to recall.
