Approximately 87,383 lb. of various ready-to-eat meat products, processed at Behrmann Meat and Processing Inc., in Albers, Ill., may contain Listeria monocytogenes, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Processed between July 7 and Sept. 9 of this year, over 65 different products including multiple codes are subject to recall. The full list can be found on the USDA website. Products to recall include establishment number “EST 20917” and were shipped to retail locations and wholesale distributors in Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri.
During FSIS product and environmental testing, Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogen causing listeriosis, was found in the processing environment and in products produced by the establishment.
Although there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS reminds consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers for this product. If found, consumers are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
