The North American Limousin Foundation published its fall international cattle evaluation (ICE) resulting in another release of EPDs for Limousin and Lim-Flex animals. Genetic trends, percentile ranks, and trait leaders were also updated based on this fall release.

“The Fall 2015 ICE marks NALF’s second release of EPDs on the same base with the collaborating breeds of International Genetic Solutions. The IGS consortium makes up the world’s largest international cattle evaluation and allows EPDs to be comparable across 12 different U.S. and Canadian breed associations. The current release encompasses the standard cattle evaluation from IGS along with three traits produced by Colorado State University – scrotal circumference, docility, and stayability,” says Joe Epperly, NALF assistant executive director. “The retraining process of the genomic profiler with GeneSeek has produced exciting results. The North American Limousin Foundation will be releasing new genomic-enhanced EPDs in the near future.”

Members and commercial users of Limousin and Lim-Flex genetics may view updated EPDs on their animals through the Animal Search or Member Site features of the NALF-DigitalBeef platform. Commercial producers may request updated performance information and EPDs be sent to them by contact the NALF office at 303-220-1693 or limousin@nalf.org.
