A Holstein cow was saved by a team of firefighters and animal control officers in Colorado after getting stuck in a cattle guard.
On July 18, animal control officers with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for cow stuck in a cattle guard around 7:30 am. The officers called in for help from the Greeley Fire Department.
The cow had all four legs stuck in a cattle guard made from oil field pipe and was unable to free herself.
Upon arrival the team of firefighters used a harness to remove the cow with the help of a hydraulic jack to spread the pipe grates.
Also assisting in the rescue were a nearby oil field crew from Ensign Energy Services and PDC Energy who used a front end loader to lift the cow.
In a Facebook post on the Sheriff’s Office page it says, “The cow did not have any broken legs and will make a full recovery.”
The rescue efforts took approximately two hours.
