Last week’s Comprehensive Beef Cutout gained $10/cwt. from the previous week to average $385.34/cwt. while average 5-Area Direct Steer prices fell $5/cwt. to average $230.98 leaving beef packer margins in the red an estimated $68.24 and sharply improved from previous weeks.
Feedlot margins remained strong and averaged and estimated $698/head last week against a calculated breakeven price of $181/cwt.
Total cattle slaughter remained unchanged at 560,000 from the prior week with fed plant capacity utilization at 77.9% and unchanged.
