Beef Profit Tracker: Beef Cutout Continues to Weaken

The Comprehensive Beef Cutout weakened further last week to average $367.21/cwt. compared to $372.48/cwt. the previous week.

For the same week a month ago, it averaged $404.37/cwt. At the same time, Choice steer prices averaged $234.06/cwt., a $5/cwt. gain from the prior week.

This left packer facing an estimated average loss of - $130.46/head. At the same time, feedlot break-evens averaged an estimated $199/cwt. for the week and $6/cwt. higher than the prior week leaving Sterling’s estimated average feedlot margins at $490/head compared to $508/head the prior week.
