From respiratory health in young calves to real-time pasture allocation, here is a look at the latest equipment and pharmaceutical releases entering the U.S. cattle market.

Bimeda USA Launches Macrosyn

Bimeda USA announces the commercial launch of Macrosyn 25 (tulathromycin injection), an FDA-approved bioequivalent alternative to Draxxin 25 (manufactured by Zoetis).

Formulated at 25 mg/mL, Macrosyn 25 features the same active ingredient as standard Macrosyn (100 mg/mL) but at one-fourth the concentration. This lower strength provides a larger, more practical injection volume for lighter-weight animals, allowing producers and veterinarians to dose young stock with greater precision and confidence.

Macrosyn 25 is indicated for:

  1. Cattle: Treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) in suckling calves, dairy calves and veal calves.
  2. Swine: Treatment and control of swine respiratory disease (SRD) in nursery and small pigs.

Macrosyn 25 is available in 100 mL and 250 mL vials. It is a prescription-only veterinary product and may be purchased through licensed veterinarians or authorized animal health distributors.

Monil Announces 10-Year Warranty and New Grazing Management Features

Monil, the Norwegian agtech developer of solar-powered virtual fencing and livestock monitoring systems, has announced a new 10-year warranty on its Cattle Collars for U.S. producers, alongside a roadmap of software enhancements rolling out through 2027.

The new warranty doubles Monil’s previous five-year term and applies automatically to both newly purchased units and collars already deployed by U.S. customers at no additional cost.

Because the collars are engineered to receive over-the-air updates, existing hardware will gain several new capabilities over the next 18 months:

  • Automated Calving Alerts (October 2026): By detecting behavioral and movement anomalies that precede labor, collars can notify ranchers when calving is imminent, reducing labor requirements while preserving herd welfare. This feature expands on Monil’s established heat-detection tracking.
  • Enhanced Managed Grazing Tools (2027): Producers will gain access to real-time and historical pasture reports, pasture rest-interval tracking and dynamic grazing intensity heat maps to streamline rotational grazing strategies.
  • Satellite Redundancy (2027): Monil collars currently shipping to U.S. ranches already contain integrated satellite hardware. A 2027 software release will activate satellite connectivity as an automated failover whenever cellular coverage drops.
  • Collar-to-Collar Mesh Relays (2027): Integrated Bluetooth communication will enable neighboring collars to daisy-chain data back to base stations or cellular nodes, bridging coverage gaps across rugged terrain.
