Cow Camp Ranch Receives BIF Seedstock Producer Of The Year Award

The Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) presented Cow Camp Ranch of Lost Springs, Kan., the Seedstock Producer of the Year Award during the group’s annual convention in Des Moines, Iowa. Kansas Livestock Association nominated the ranch for the award. 

Cow Camp Ranch is owned by the Brunner family. Kent Brunner and his son, Nolan, manage the day-to-day activities on the ranch. The registered cowherd was founded in 1969 by Kent, using some of the original Simmental genetics that were imported into the U.S. Today, the cowherd consists of registered Simmental, SimAngus and Angus cows. Progeny performance testing and attention to EPDs, DNA profiles and actual performance data heavily influence their breeding program. The success of their efforts in genetic improvement can be seen in numerous commercial cowherds.

The mission of BIF is to improve the beef industry through performance evaluation.
