South Dakota Cattle on Feed up 7 Percent from 2013

South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals had 240,000 cattle on feed on Feb. 1, up 7 percent from last year.

South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals had 240,000 cattle on feed on Feb. 1, up 7 percent from last year.

The Agriculture Department says in its latest report that placements in feedlots during January totaled 54,000 head, up 50 percent from 2013.

Marketings of fed cattle during January totaled 41,000 head, up 3 percent from last year.
