South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals reported 210,000 cattle on feed on August 1, up 20 percent from last year.

South Dakota feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more animals reported 210,000 cattle on feed on August 1, up 20 percent from last year.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its latest report that placements in feedlots during July totaled 17,000 head, down 15 percent from 2014.

Marketings of fed cattle during in July totaled 34,000 head, down 13 percent from last year.

Other disappearance during July totaled 3,000 head, up 2,000 head from last year.
