The 5-Area Accumulated Average Cattle Price saw a little luck this week, jumping from $135.66 on March 7 to $137.88 on March 14.
The panel of cattle industry experts who make up our Monday Market Sentiment were a little low with a prediction of $136.58 per hundredweight. This week, the panel is a little lower with an average guess of $138.78 per hundredweight.
Choice boxed beef saw an increase through the week, starting March 8 at $220.25 per hundredweight, and ending March. 14 on $222.47 per hundredweight. The increase moved the 27-day average to $218.47 per hundredweight.
Each week the Cattle Trader Center, on behalf of Merck Animal Health, awards a $100 gift certificate from Cabela’s to the industry leader whose forecast comes closest to the 5-Area cash trade number reported by the USDA. The most recent winners was Terry Ryan, JBS Five Rivers.
