Cash Market Stumbles Before Board Runs
Packers again were able to take advantage of weakness on the board to continue driving the price of live cattle lower. The South had a cash trade window of $118 to $120 with most of the volume at $119.
The North had equally disappointing trades with cash up to $119 and dressed cattle at $190 to $192.
Friday's run up in the board, combined with some packers appearing to be short on inventory, may lead to some interesting trade in the weeks to come. If investors continue to find value in the live cattle market, producers may see a run in the board that could carry over into the live cattle trade.
