Cattle feeders in the South continued to see a lack of negotiated trade due to an abundance of market ready cattle. This over supply kept the cash trade in the South $118-$119.
The North saw a decent-sized trade in the region. Packers appear to have more room, or at least a larger appetite for cattle. Feeders in the North saw cash range mostly from $118-$121 and dressed cattle upper $180’s to low $190’s.
Packers have struggled with help and equipment installations over the last several weeks. Last week most packers announced hourly raises for employees. In an industry that desperately needs more labor, hopefully this move will help retain and attract more works to keep production from declining any further.
