Four Gardiner Angus Ranch auctions annually offer beef producers flexibility in buying registered bull and females and elite bred commercial females that fit their environments at a time it best fits their operations.

On Monday, Jan. 22, GAR sold a total of 474 head in 309 lots to 122 buyers from 22 states and Mexico in four hours. Two-hundred-forty-three bidders registered to bid in person and online. See complete sale results here.

The sale’s top two selling bulls, Lots 111 and 137, are sons of the breed-leading sire for marbling, GAR Transcendent and sold for $24,000 each. GAR repeat customer Dudley Brewer, Brewer Land & Cattle, Oakwood, Tex., purchased Lot 111, GAR Transcendent A242. Lot 137, GAR Transcendent 6032, sold to another longtime customer, Lyman Marion Ramsey, Grand Bay, AL.

Buyers in the seats purchased 72% of the cattle and 28% sold to online buyers.

Eighty bulls sold for $10,000 or more, including:

  • 19 bulls sold from $14,000 to $24,000
  • 11 bulls sold from $13,000 to $13,500
  • 10 bulls sold from $12,000 to $12,500
  • 16 bulls sold from $11,000 to $11,500
  • 24 bulls sold from $10,000 to $10,500

Overall, 306 registered Angus bulls averaged $8,613, including 221 head of 17-month-old registered bulls at $8,287 and 85 head of 20-month-old registered bulls at $9,459.

One-hundred-sixty-eight bred commercial heifers averaged $2,653.

The sale grossed $3,081,200 on 474 head.
