A recall has been announced by JBS and USDA after more than 43,000 lb. of ground beef was found to be possibly contaminated by extraneous materials, specifically, pieces of hard plastic.
JBS USA has recalled approximately 35,464 lb. of raw ground beef following the finding of hard plastic in contaminated beef.
JBS has added another 5 million lb. of raw beef to a previous recall for Salmonella contaminated products that have sickened nearly 250 people.
The number of people who have become ill from eating Salmonella contaminated beef has gone up by 87 cases after the recall was increased to 12 million lb.
