Placements in feedlots during November totaled 1.84 million head, up 15 percent from 2015.
Placements of calves on feed for the slaughter market in the U.S. for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 head or more totaled 11.7 million head, as of Nov. 1, 2018. The inventory was 3% above the Nov. 1, 2017 report.
April placements in feedlots totaled 1.85 million head, up 11.1% from a year ago with the pre-report estimate average expecting placements up 7.2%.
In November, U.S. feedlots set a record for 1.87 million head marketed, the highest Dec. 1 total since the series began recording in 1996.
Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in the United States for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 12.0 million head on Nov. 1, 2020.
USDA's cattle on feed report counted 11.83 million head on feed, which is 101.2% of last year and up 4.8% from October as feedlot inventories increase to a seasonal peak.
