Report: Japan Halts Beef from U.S. Plant
Japan has halted imports of U.S. beef shipped from a Creekstone Farms Premium Beef in Kansas after finding prohibited materials in a shipment, according to reports.
According to Kyodo News, the import halt came after two packages in a shipment contained spinal columns, an item banned from beef shipments to Japan. The news agency reported the two packages did not carry safety certificates from USDA and were among 16 tons of beef that came from Creekstone Farms Premium Beef LLC's plant in Kansas.
Other reports say this is the 12th such violation of the terms of beef trade established between Japan and the United States.
