Central Valley Meat Holding Company will acquire Harris Ranch Beef Holding Company to comprise the country’s seventh largest beef packer and processing company. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Harris Ranch Beef Company and Central Valley Meat Company will continue to operate independently with both companies fully retaining their brands. Together, they will increase their ability to increase capacity and provide customers with additional products. Significant investment of processing and feeding facilities will complement their business sustainability, transportation and animal welfare goals.

A key benefit to the acquisition is their proximity to major West Coast ports, which will allow them to expand export sales.

“We have known and respected John Harris and Harris Ranch Beef for decades, and I am pleased to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to continue the business’ family-owned legacy and pursue its tremendous potential for growth here in the Central Valley,” said Brian Coelho, Central Valley Meat Co., president and CEO. “While Central Valley Meat Company and Harris Ranch Beef will continue to operate independently, I expect both businesses and their respective customers to benefit from the companies’ shared knowledge, extensive resources and expanded product offering.”

“The Central Valley has long-served as the home of some of the finest beef sold around the world. Today’s announcement cements a future for two family-owned beef operations to continue to thrive,” said John Harris, owner of Harris Farms. “Mr. Coelho has a proven track record of growing businesses, and under his leadership Harris Ranch Beef can continue its long and storied legacy.”

Part of the Harris Farms’ franchise, the Harris Ranch Beef Holding Company includes Harris Feeding Company and Harris Ranch Beef Company. None of the other Harris businesses will be impacted by this transaction. The company is a integrated beef company where cattle are sourced, fed and processed exclusively by Harris Ranch Beef.

Central Valley Beef Company is a family-owned meat processor founded in 1993. The operation focuses on supplying high quality beef to major retail and quick serve restaurant chains in domestic and international markets.
