Midwest Producing More Clean Energy Jobs

Midwest Producing More Clean Energy Jobs

A report from the Clean Energy Trust and Environmental Entrepreneurs shows how 12 Midwest states are becoming a “rising hub” when it comes to adding jobs in renewable energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicles. The states noted in the report are Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The region also excels in the policies necessary to promote related economic growth, according to a new report from Clean Energy Trust (CET) and Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2).

The CET/E2 “Clean Jobs Midwest” report takes an exhaustive approach to examining jobs data and economies of Midwestern states. The report shows that the clean energy industry in the Midwest is home to more jobs than many occupations nationally including: computer programmer, real estate agent, telemarketer, insurance adjuster, flight attendant and even the number of taxi drivers.

“Clean Jobs Midwest” will include state-based fact sheets for Iowa and others in the region, as well as an online database with job data by county, congressional district and state legislative district.  The report will go live at: www.CleanJobsMidwest.com at the start of a live phone-based news conference at noon EDT/11 a.m. CDT on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
