Certified Angus Beef Annual Sales Up 8.1%

The Certified Angus Beef program recorded sales of 1.215 billion pounds the past year, a new record. John Stika, CAB president, announced the sales totals during his address Thursday to the Certified Angus Beef conference in Maui, Hawaii.

“This year’s gathering is special for a number of reasons, including the brand’s 40th anniversary,” Stika said. He thanked those responsible for helping CAB reach its current level of prosperity, “from the farmers and ranchers who have been the backbone of the brand since its very beginning to those who ensure consumers enjoy the very best Angus beef at their table, and everyone in between.”

Stika said the sales distribution of Certified Angus Beef by division: retail, 40.6%; food service, 33.9%; international, 16.9%; miscellaneous, 8.6%.

Total brand sales increased 8.1% for CAB, with middle meats up 7.9%, end meats up 8.5%and ground beef 8.7% higher. Value-added products increased 9.8%, Stika said.
