California Fire Fighter Praised During State of the Union
On July 8, the Whittier Fire in California was surrounding the Circle V Ranch Camp in Santa Barbara County.
David Dahlberg, a fire prevention technician with the U.S. Forest Service, rescued 62 children and staffers. He met with Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, who praised Dahlberg’s quick action.
The USDA is crediting him to single-handedly working to fireproof the camp until everyone could be rescued.
Dahlberg was one of the 11 honored guests at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.
“Thank you to David and the Brave people of California,” said Trump. “To everyone still recovering in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, we are with you, we love you, and we always will pull through together. Always.”
