The Weekly Export Sales Report for the week ended Dec. 8, showed few surprises. Corn, soybean and wheat sales were within expectations.

Weekly Sales Details

Net sales of 504,700 MT for the 2011-12 marketing year resulted as increases for Mexico (315,300 MT, including 6,900 MT switched from unknown destination and decreases of 35,000 MT), Japan (251,000 MT, including 105,300 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 5,800 MT), China (123,700 MT, including 126,700 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 3,000 MT), El Salvador (29,300 MT, including 17,800 MT switched from unknown destinations), Guatemala (20,700 MT, including 18,800 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Taiwan (18,100 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (273,300 MT), the Dominican Republic (19,300 MT), and the French West Indies (7,800 MT). Net sales of 1,200 MT for delivery in 2012-13 were reported for South Korea (700 MT) and Mexico (500 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 886,900 MT were down 14 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were to Japan (296,400 MT), South Korea (172,100 MT), Mexico (124,500 MT), China (123,700 MT), the Dominican Republic (37,500 MT), and Taiwan (26,600 MT).

Comments and Performance Indicators

Sales were within expectations. Export commitments are 4% below year ago, compared to 3% below last week. USDA projects exports in 2011-12 to be 12.8% below the previous marketing year.

Wheat

Net sales of 318,400 MT for the 2011-12 marketing year were down 26 percent from the previous week and 32 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Japan (78,700 MT), Mexico (58,300 MT), Indonesia (50,500 MT), Singapore (30,000 MT), Guatemala (26,400 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Israel (19,200 MT), El Salvador (18,600 MT, including 15,600 MT switched from unknown destinations), and the Dominican Republic (17,500 MT). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (41,400 MT).
Weekly Export Details
Exports of 539,300 MT were up 25 percent from the previous week and 55 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were to China (114,700 MT), Nigeria (78,300 MT), South Korea (75,300 MT), Israel (50,100 MT), Indonesia (45,500 MT), Guatemala (26,400 MT), Japan (26,200 MT), and Mexico (24,000 MT).

Sales were below trade expectations. Export commitments are 24% behind year-ago, compared to 22% behind last week. USDA projects exports in 2011-12 to be 24.4% below the previous marketing year.

Net sales of 468,600 MT for the 2011-12 marketing year resulted as increases for China (354,200 MT), Japan (66,400 MT, including 29,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 4,100 MT), Mexico (18,800 MT), Taiwan (14,700 MT), Israel (8,000 MT), and Indonesia (7,400 MT), were partially offset by decreases for Vietnam (7,600 MT) and unknown destinations (1,900 MT). Options exercised to export the commodity from the United States were for China (66,000 MT).
Weekly Export Details
Exports of 1,008,300 MT were reported primarily to China (772,100 MT), Japan (98,900 MT), Mexico (65,600 MT), Taiwan (26,400 MT), Canada (19,500 MT), and Indonesia (14,400 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators

Sales were within expectations. Export commitments are running 33% behind year-ago, which compares to 34% behind last week. USDA projects exports in 2011-12 to be 11.7% below the previous marketing year.

Soymeal

Decreases were reported for Colombia (34,800 MT), unknown destinations (22,400 MT), Venezuela (17,000 MT), and Egypt (16,000 MT). Net sales of 3,600 MT for delivery in 2012-13 were reported for Mexico

Exports of 240,600 MT were primarily reported to the Philippines (51,800 MT), Venezuela (41,000 MT), Ecuador (34,800 MT), Canada (25,500 MT), and Mexico (22,500 MT). Note: Accumulated exports were adjusted down for Colombia (34,800 MT).

Sales were within expectations. Export commitments are running 14% behind year-ago, compared to 12% behind last week. USDA projects exports in 2011-12 to be 3.3% below the previous marketing year.

Net Upland sales of 55,800 running bales for the 2011-12 resulted as increases for China (60,500 RB), Mexico (3,800 RB), Guatemala (2,100 RB), and Peru (1,500 RB), were partially offset by decreases for Indonesia (7,400 RB), Bangladesh (3,000 RB), Turkey (2,600 RB), and Italy (900 RB). Options exercised to export the commodity from other than the United States were for Indonesia (1,800 RB). Exports for own account were reported for China (9,500 RB). Net sales reductions of 10,100 RB for delivery in 2012-13 were for Thailand.

Exports of 173,400 RB were down 23 percent from the previous week, but up 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (94,800 RB), Turkey (20,000 RB), Mexico (16,800 RB), and South Korea (5,700 RB).

Export commitments are 26% behind year-ago compared to 25% behind last week. USDA projects exports in 2011-12 to be 21.4% below the previous marketing year.

Beef

Weekly Sales Details
Net sales of 9,900 MT for delivery in 2011 were primarily for Mexico (2,300 MT), South Korea (1,700 MT), Canada (1,600 MT), Japan (1,500 MT), and Russia (900 MT). Net sales of 8,900 MT for delivery in 2012 were primarily for Japan (2,500 MT), the Netherlands (1,600 MT), Vietnam (1,200 MT), and the Philippines (900 MT).
Weekly Export Details
Exports of 16,400 MT were reported mainly to Canada (3,000 MT), South Korea (2,900 MT), Mexico (2,600 MT), Japan (2,600 MT), and Vietnam (1,800 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators
Exports compare to 21,000 MT last week. USDA projects exports in 2012 to be 20.3% above last year's total.
