Iowa Meat Plant Awarded $1 Million in Tax Incentives
A state panel has awarded $1 million in tax incentives to a Denison, Iowa meat company based on its plans for a $21.7 million expansion that would create nearly 200 new jobs.
The Sioux City Journal reports that Quality Food Processors already employs about 100 workers at its bacon and smoked meats plant. The company, which processes meat for 10 contract customers, plans to expand and upgrade its existing operations to house a new bacon cooking line.
The company says the expansion will allow it to fulfill a new 10-year, renewable contract with one of its largest customers, Monogram Prepared Meats of Harlan, Iowa.
The expansion is expected to create 195 jobs at a qualifying wage of $12.70 per hour.
