The move by National Beef, the fourth largest beef packer in the U.S., to purchase Iowa Premium Beef adds additional 1,100 head per day of packing capacity to the company.
Should Vegetarian Products Be Allowed Meat-Related Names?
A survey of consumers in the U.S. and the United Kingdom found that only 25% of respondents believe manufacturers of vegetarian products should not be permitted to use meat-related names like sausage, burger or steak.
Interestingly, vegans were the most in support of banning the use of meat-based names for vegetarian products with 33% saying that names used for meat shouldn’t be used in vegetarian products. The polling was done by Surveygoo and the data was released by Ingredient Communications.
