Don’t Let the Challenges Hold You Back

( )

If you are needing a little motivation, go watch a high school girls cross country team practice in 300% humidity (or at least it felt like it to me). As I watched these girls run from afar this morning, I saw them give their whole heart to a sport that may not even happen this fall. But that isn’t stopping them from trying to improve.

It’s been interesting to watch them adjust to the challenges presented by COVID-19. They wear masks while they lift weights, they’ve taken extra measures to prevent the virus by adjusting their practice schedules, and their coach has had to work extra hard to make practices happen. It’s certainly not easy, but achieving success rarely is.

Because at the end of the day, it’s really about their personal improvement and growth.

I think that is what I admire most about the agriculture industry. We’re never done learning and trying to improve and grow.

I think it’s easy to get into a familiar pattern of “this is what we’ve always done,” because it works for us. But in agriculture, our industry is continually shifting and evolving. That mindset doesn’t work for farmers.

Undoubtedly, as farm shows and industry events continue to cancel, it’s becoming harder to stay up to date on the latest and greatest innovations. That’s why you need to sign up now for the first-ever Farm Journal Field Days virtual event on August 25 to 27. We’re bringing the expertise to your living room or your barn, whatever is most convenient for you!

Agriculture has been through so much in 2020. The challenges are bigger than ever, but I’m encouraged that the opportunities are, too. I’m motivated by the stories of new technology, of resilience in the face of hard times and of best practices to improve your farm’s efficiency.

During Farm Journal Field Days, we’ll be coming together for a modern, COVID-safe show designed for everyone in agriculture—complete with three days of virtual discussion, tours, solutions and insightful talks from key industry leaders.

And don’t worry, you won’t have to sit still for three days to make sure you don’t miss out on the latest and greatest information. You can join our sessions live and on-demand. Check out the latest innovative products, services, technology and machinery through our interactive expo hall.

Our company has conducted extensive research to bring you the most comprehensive show we have ever produced. Just because we can’t all be together in one physical location doesn’t mean we can’t still help each other make progress and move forward.

Here are some of the highlights I’m looking forward to:
•    Top Producer and Virtual Insider Tours
•    New and exclusive #FarmOn benefit Concert with an enviable country music star line-up, including Grammy-nominated Lee Brice
•    Virtual beer garden sessions for networking and connecting with the industry
•    Product Showcase with access to solution-providers, latest machinery models and services including in-event demos
•    Virtual Learning Pavilion and Thought-Leadership Exchange on all the latest topics, challenges and solutions
•    And what farm show is complete without great giveaways and a virtual swag bag?

There’s just something about a group of people chasing after their goals together. Just like the runners make a choice each day to get out there and run, I’ve got the same choice before me to pursue my own goals. COVID-19 has ripped a lot of things away from us, but it can’t take that away.
