Meat grown in laboratory for first time

Researchers may be only a step away from creating steak through laboratory techniques rather than live animals.

Dutch researchers say they have already created soggy pork and are looking at ways of tweaking it further so it will more closely resemble the real thing.

“What we have at the moment is rather like wasted muscle tissue,” a researcher at Eindhoven University in the Netherlands told The Sunday Times in Great Britain. “We need to find ways of improving it by training it and stretching it, but we will get there… If it feels and tastes like meat, people will buy it.”
