Stocker and feeder cattle prices increased $1 to $3 per hundredweight during May, according to Drovers ’ exclusive 50-market auction summary. Steer calves weighing 400 to 500 pounds saw average bids of $131.06 per hundredweight, $1.60 higher than April’s average. Yearling steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds gained $1.38 per hundredweight to average $114.83. Heifer calves sold for an average of $117.42 during May, an increase of $2.29 per hundredweight. Yearling heifers weighing more than 600 pounds saw average bids of $101.61, an improvement of $3.26 per hundredweight.
